TERA
e.letter
June 26, 2003
"Thanks for the TERA weekly update. I am continually amazed
by the level of professionalism and technical detail your group is able to
provide
to your ever-increasing constituency. What an asset to a community
buried in the LA bureaucratic shuffle. I've only seen such vigor and
intelligence
in Larchmont and Brentwood in LA, and even they don't compare.
Keep up the fine work -- while frustrating --
very rewarding for the betterment of the community."
-- Tom Eidem, noted economic development advisor, San Clemente

2. TERA THANKS LINDA HERBERT AND WELCOMES NEW FIELD DEPUTY, MICHAEL
CATHEY
A message from Joanne Turner, President of TERA:
I would like to take this opportunity to thank current Field Deputy Linda
Herbert for her diligence and attention to Eagle Rock's concerns over the last
four years. She had a tough job and did it well. She and I had a
very good working relationship as well as some good laughs -- always important.
Of course, one would be foolish not to take advantage of the abundance of
great material here in town.
On July 1, Michael Cathey will assume the position of Field Deputy for incoming
Councilmember Antonio Villaraigosa. I had the privilege and honor of
working with and getting to know Michael during the past few months, and I can
personally attest to his decency, trustworthiness, and integrity.
Eagle Rock will be well represented by Michael as our field deputy.
Still, he will need your help and support, because civic progress is the
responsibility of all of us. Please do right by him, as I know he will by
you.
Thank you, Linda, and best of luck, Michael. Please know we're here for
you whenever you need us.
3. SPOTLIGHT ON DINING -- EAGLE ROCK'S OWN CAFE BEAUJOLAIS MAKES LA
TIMES LIST
Out of the 10,000 restaurants in Los Angeles, nearly 300 were chosen to
make "The List" of the LA Times' critics' choices, and our own Cafe
Beaujolais is on it! "The List" was featured in last Sunday's
LA Times Magazine. The description is as follows:
"Cafe Beaujolais is the sort of French restaurant every
neighborhood ought to have. It's charming and unpretentious, with a
grapevine pattern stenciled high on its pale yellow walls, and, boy, are the
baguettes fresh. Specialties: pate, escargots, rack of lamb, pear tart,
lemon tart with fresh meringue. Entrees, $13 to $17. 1712 Colorado
Blvd., Eagle Rock; (323) 255-5111."
Congratulations to Elda and Eric Ulmer, who had the vision to know what our
commercial district badly needed several years ago! They were true
pioneers in an untested neighborhood, and both their Eagle Rock restaurants,
Cafe Beaujolais and Le Petit Beaujolais, add so much to our business district.
A couple from Laguna Beach read the review and drove up for dinner that
night!
If you haven't tried Cafe Beaujolais or Le Petit Beaujolais, we strongly
recommend it.

BETTER
The 14th District Office has posted the full text of outgoing Councilmember
Nick Pacheco's official Transition Memo to Councilmember-elect Antonio
Villaraigosa on the internet. Students of local politics will
find much of interest in Councilmember Pacheco's massive account of the
day-to-day routines that propel LA's 14th district council office.
Available as an Adobe Acrobat file, the memo can be downloaded and
perused by anyone with an internet connection--and a little time on their
hands: it runs no fewer than 93 pages with attachments.

18. LETTERS AND E-MAIL
